“If I’m to turn the hand of time, I’ll not get married yet. I’ll make money first” — Young mother advice single ladies

A young mother has advised single women to ensure they have a reliable source of income before entering marriage.
Sharing her personal experience, she warned that financial dependence on a spouse could become a problem during disagreements in marriage.
“Don’t get into marriage without having something you’re doing, a source of income because no matter how that man is doing everything for you, there will be one day when you guys have a misunderstanding, he might use that against you. He might decide that he will not give you money or he’ll use it to insult you,” she said.
Financial struggles and family responsibilities
The woman explained that if she had the opportunity to make the decision again, she would have focused on making money before settling down.
She said her current financial situation has made it difficult for her to support her family, especially as the first daughter with many responsibilities.
“So if I’m to turn the hand of time, I’ll not get married yet, I’ll make money. As a first daughter of my family, I have a lot of responsibilities and right now my mom is going through a lot and I just can’t help her,” she said.
Advice to single women
She also revealed that her financial struggles have affected her relationship with her siblings because she fears they may ask for financial help she cannot provide.
According to her, they may not understand her situation and could assume she is being stingy.
“For a while now I haven’t even talked to my siblings. Why? Because I’m like what if they ask me for financial support. To them they’ll not know that I don’t have, they’ll think I’m being stingy,” she said.
Encouraging single women to focus on financial independence, she added: “If you’re a single lady take that serious. Try and find your purpose. Make money first. Don’t say I’ll strive in marriage. It’s more easy to make money when you’re a single person than when you have kids.”
