“If I dey talk…” — Lady cries out after seeing elderly man selling sachet water to survive

A touching moment on the streets of Nigeria has stirred reactions online after a young lady shared a video of an elderly man selling sachet water to survive.
In the now-viral clip, the lady expressed deep concern over the harsh economic reality, repeatedly stressing that life in Nigeria is not easy.
She pointed at the elderly man, questioning how much profit he could possibly make from selling pure water just to feed his family.
Speaking in a mix of Pidgin and English, she said, “If I dey talk say life hard for Nigeria, I no wetin I dey talk? See this elderly man where dey sell pure water… How much water person go sell, where go reach person to feed family?” Her voice carried both frustration and sympathy as she tried to highlight the man’s struggle.
The elderly man, who appeared calm, explained that selling sachet water is what he now relies on after losing his previous business.
According to him, profit margins are very small, noting that a full bag of water brings only about ₦200 gain, which is barely enough to support his household.
He further revealed that he has a large family to cater for, making the situation even more difficult.
Despite the hardship, he continues the trade as a means of survival.
