“If I call that I need N100m, people will run and look for it” — Bishop David Abioye

Nigerian cleric, Bishop David Abioye, has urged people to remain faithful in their current responsibilities, warning against the misuse of power and the pressure to chase sudden financial demands beyond one’s capacity.

The bishop made the remarks while addressing his congregation, where he spoke about discipline, contentment, and integrity in both ministry and professional life.

He stressed that many people today are easily pushed into actions they are not prepared for, especially when financial expectations are involved.

According to him, such pressure can lead to poor judgement and long-term mistakes. He also cautioned that abuse of power has been responsible for the downfall of many individuals in leadership positions.

He further encouraged people to focus on being responsible and consistent in whatever role they find themselves, rather than trying to meet unrealistic demands.

Faithfulness in Position and Responsibility

During his message, the cleric drew a comparison between those who can quickly raise large sums of money under pressure and those who choose to remain steady and faithful in their current assignments.

He suggested that not everyone should be driven by urgent financial requests, especially when it risks compromising integrity or stability.

He said:

“People today, if I call them, hey, I need 100 million, number two 100 million in one week, go and look for it. They will run and look for it, but I will never.

I want to be faithful where I am. Abuse of power has destroyed many people. Abuse of power. But business world, in career and all of that, be faithful. Somebody say, may I be faithful now?”
