“I’d rather remain single than be a second wife” – 39-year-old woman laments search for marriage
A 39-year-old Nigerian woman opens up about her stance on marriage, revealing that she would rather remain single than become a second wife.
In a post that has since gained attention on social media, the woman expressed frustration over her search for a life partner, noting that many of the prospects she encounters are already married men seeking additional wives.
According to her, despite her desire to settle down, she is unwilling to compromise her values or share a partner, stressing that she prefers a monogamous relationship.
She added that the pressure to marry at her age has been intense, but she remains firm in her decision.

“I don’t want to be a problem to any marriage or any woman in this life. It’s not that I am not seeing husband, but the people I am seeing it’s better I remain single and even kpai single than get married to them. Because all the people I’ve been seeing are people that want me as their second wife. How can a young vibrant lady like me be a second wife. I’m 39 years but I don’t even look 39. It’s only when I tell people my age that they know my age. I know I’m getting old and I don’t have time, but I don’t want to turn 40 next year without a home.
That’s why I’m avoiding people; I don’t want to break any woman’s home…”
