“I Wasn’t Given Time at Milan”— Samuel Chukwueze

Samuel Chukwueze, the Nigerian winger on loan at Fulham from AC Milan, has opened up about his struggles in Serie A and his resurgence in the Premier League.

Since joining Fulham for the season, the 26-year-old has shown a return to form, recording two goals and four assists in nine appearances, with five of those contributions coming in his last five matches before joining Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Struggles at Milan prompt move to Fulham

Chukwueze spent two difficult seasons at Milan after his €20m move from Villarreal in 2023.

Despite 26 appearances in the 2024/25 Serie A campaign, he started only nine matches, accumulating 918 minutes while scoring three goals and providing two assists.

I don’t think I was given the time or the opportunities I needed,” Chukwueze said. “But that’s football. I just have to keep working. Maybe one day I’ll return to Serie A, or La Liga, or stay in the Premier League. English football probably suits my style better than Italian tactics.”

He also expressed fondness for Milan, stressing that his ties remain strong.

“I miss Milan. It’s my second home. My family are still there, so of course I miss the city. They are doing well and I wish them all the best. I’m still a Milan player, after all, because I’m only on loan.”

Chukwueze praised his former club’s title push this season, adding:

You can see what Milan are doing; they’re playing very well. If they keep pushing like this, I think they can win. I’m sure they’ll finish in the top four because their level has been really high.”
