“I was duped” – Lady narrates encounter with an online suitor she met 2-months to her birthday
A young Nigerian lady has sparked buzz online after narrating how a TikTok suitor allegedly threatened her with her unclad photo following a date night.
In a viral video shared by @Abazz on X (formerly Twitter), she revealed that she met the man about two months before her birthday, and their conversations flowed smoothly.
They eventually agreed to meet on her birthday, with the man promising to treat her to a special celebration.
On the day of the planned meeting, she said she reached out to him but received no response for hours. He later claimed that he had been arrested and was in police custody.
The man reportedly begged her to send ₦30,000, assuring her that he would refund the money when they eventually met.
Later that same day, he asked her to come over to the hotel where he was staying.
The following morning, after she stepped out briefly, he contacted her again to ask what she wanted to eat.
When she responded, he requested an additional ₦5,000, claiming that his bank account was experiencing issues.
After returning home and explaining the situation to a friend, she was advised to demand a refund, as it appeared the money she sent had been used to pay for the hotel expenses.
However, when she requested her money back, the man allegedly sent her a “view once” photo.
Upon opening it, she discovered it was a naked photo of herself used to threaten her if she continues to ask for a refund.
Her story has since triggered mixed reactions online. A commentator wrote, “Men of these days are now gigolo.” Another said, “How on earth did you not see the signs.”
