“I used to wear three bras” – Waje opens up on body insecurity, journey to self-confidence
Popular Nigerian singer Waje has opened up about her past struggles with body image and insecurity, sharing how she navigated that phase of her life.
Speaking during an appearance on Her Next Chapter podcast hosted by Tope Olowoniyan, the 44-year-old revealed that she used to feel uncomfortable about her body, especially her upper physique.
“Even before I had my child, I have always been heavy at the top. I used to hide it. In my 20s, I used to wear like three bras because I was very uncomfortable about how heavy I was at the top,” she said.
According to the singer, she eventually grew out of that insecurity as she became more confident in herself over time.
She also explained that motherhood played a major role in helping her appreciate her body and see herself differently.
“With time, I became more confident, and having my child changed how I see my body,” she added.
Waje also credited close friends, including M.I Abaga and Kaffy, for helping her build confidence and develop a thick skin against negative comments.
It will also be recalled in a previous interview the music star announced late last year that she is engaged, although she did not reveal the identity of her fiancé.
