“I used to ‘marry-shame’ you” — Lady apologises to ‘big sisters’ as she approaches 30 without getting married

A lady has sparked conversations on social media after posting an emotional video apologising to older women she once criticised for remaining unmarried.

The viral clip captures the woman reflecting on her younger years, admitting that she used to judge women in their 30s and 40s who had not married.

She said that as she now approaches the same age without being married or even in a relationship, she has come to understand that marriage is not something that happens easily for everyone.

‘I am saying sorry’

Describing the recording as an apology video, the woman addressed those she considered her “big sisters” while growing up, expressing regret for the way she had viewed them.

This is an apology video. I want to apologise to some set of people. I want to apologise to all my big sisters, all those people that I knew as big sisters when I was growing up.”

She admitted that she often questioned why they had not settled down despite their age.

I’m always like, ‘Oh, you’re 30 and you’re not married, what are you doing with your life? You’re 40 and you’re not married, what are you doing with your life?'”

According to her, she has now reached a similar stage in life and realised how difficult it can be to find the right partner.

I’m around your age now. Yes, I’m not married. And now, I’m just getting to know why you’re not married.”

‘I never knew it was hard’

The woman acknowledged that she had wrongly judged others and apologised for what she described as “marry-shaming” them.

“I am saying sorry. I used to marry-shame you that time. I am saying sorry because me like this, I’m not in a relationship, not to talk of wanting to get married.”

She said her personal experience has completely changed her perspective on marriage.

“I never knew. I did not know that it’s hard to get married. I did not know. I am sorry.”
