“I saw them take my child away” – Mother of one abducted Oyo student cries out, makes emotional appeal to government

One of the parents of the abducted students has made an emotional appeal to the government, pleading for urgent action to secure the release of the children.
The grieving mother recounted how she prepared her daughter for school that morning and was at home cooking when armed bandits stormed the community and began shooting in Oyo State.
Speaking emotionally in a viral video, she said:
“I bathed my child and sent her to school. I was in the kitchen cooking so she would have something to eat when she returned, when I suddenly saw bandits entering our town and they started shooting.”
According to her, she hid for safety during the attack but watched helplessly as the attackers gathered her child alongside other students in Oriire community.
The woman, who said she is originally from Benin Republic, explained that she relocated to Nigeria to work and provide a better future for her children after the death of their father.
“I am begging the government. I came here to work as a merchant so I can take care of my children, hoping they will also take care of me when I am old.
Their father is late. I am in Yawata working as a trader to support her. The government is trying, but they should please help us bring our child back alive,” she added.
The mother’s heartbreaking appeal has sparked emotional reactions online, with many Nigerians calling on authorities to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted students.
The abduction, which took place in Oriire community, Oyo State, saw the principal, teachers, and about 46 students reportedly still in captivity, and has continued to generate nationwide concern as families anxiously await their safe return.
