“I paid ₦150,000 and he left my wall broken” — Man laments AC installation ordeal

A man has taken to social media to express frustration over what he described as unprofessional conduct by an air conditioner technician who allegedly damaged his wall during installation and failed to return to fix it.

The incident occurred amid the ongoing heatwave affecting many parts of the country, which has driven increased demand for cooling appliances.

According to the man, the technician completed the installation but left a section of his wall broken, insisting that plastering was not part of his responsibility.

Hee said she objected, noting that the installer collected ₦150,000 for the job and should restore the wall to its original state.

The disagreement reportedly ended with the technician promising to return the next day with cement to carry out repairs, a promise he says was not fulfilled.

“He said plastering wasn’t his job”

Because of the current heat in the country, I decided to buy an AC. A technician came yesterday to install it, but he left the wall broken. He told me I would have to call a bricklayer to plaster it because it’s not part of his job. I disagreed and told him he should fix it, especially after collecting ₦150k,” he added.

Silence after payment raises concern

The man further alleged that the technician has since stopped responding to calls, leaving him unsure of the next steps to take.

He admitted considering involving security operatives, noting that he knows where the installer lives.

He said he would come back today with cement to plaster it, but he didn’t come. I’ve been calling him and he hasn’t picked up. I don’t know what to do now or if I should arrest him tomorrow because I know his house.”

The incident echoes similar complaints recorded in February 2026, when consumers raised concerns over artisans abandoning jobs after partial completion.
