“I held her while they treated her” – Nanyah’s friend shares how she reacted during anti-venom treatment
A friend of late gospel singer Ifunanya Nwangene popularly known as Nanyah has shared emotional details of what he witnessed at the hospital shortly before her death.
His account has sparked serious reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock and sadness.
What Happened to Ifunanya Nwangene
Ifunanya reportedly died after she was bitten by a snake inside her apartment.
She was rushed to a hospital in Abuja, where doctors worked to save her life by administering anti-venom.
Despite medical efforts, the singer did not survive the incident.
Friend Shares What He Saw at the Hospital
In a video shared online by TikTok user @gossiplawyer_, the young man, who identified himself as Ifunanya’s friend, explained what he saw when he got to the hospital.
According to him, medical personnel were already attending to her when he arrived.
How Ifunanya Reacted During Treatment
The friend revealed that Ifunanya was already receiving anti-venom when he walked into the hospital room. However, her condition appeared serious.
In his words: “When I got there, she was being attended to. In fact, the anti-venom was being administered to her by the time I walked in, but I could see her struggling, grasping for breath and all that.”
He Assisted While Doctors Tried to Help
He further stated that he had to physically support her while doctors continued treatment.
“So I helped, I held her while that process was going on. She was already on a drip, and at some point, they brought in the oxygen.”
Hospital Asked Them to Get More Anti-Venom
The friend also disclosed that even after anti-venom had been administered, doctors requested more as a precaution.
He explained: “They needed more than the anti-venom, so they asked us to go and buy.”
Why More Anti-Venom Was Requested
Clarifying the situation, he added that the hospital wanted to ensure nothing was left to chance.
In his words: “They had already given her anti-venom, but I think they were trying to do a backup, just in case what they had given her wasn’t working.”
