According to her, marriage often places heavy responsibilities on women, including caring for their husbands, children and homes, while also expecting them to work and contribute financially.

“If marriage favours women, men will not do it. I’ve spent over 30 years on this earth, and I’ve been thinking about it, and up till now, I don’t know a certain gain of marriage for women,” she said.

She further claimed that women have it harder in marriage and compared some of the responsibilities expected of wives to unpaid domestic labour.

The woman also revealed that she has a daughter and said she had already decided that her child would not get married, although she acknowledged that the decision is not yet be known to her daughter.

“I have a daughter. She does not know it yet, but she’s not going to get married. Yes. I’m not saying this based off my own experience. I’m somebody who people talk to. I’m like an unpaid therapist,” she added.

She argued that women are expected to cook, raise children and maintain the home without receiving direct payment for the work, while also contributing their own income to the household.

The woman’s remarks have generated discussions online, with some agreeing that marriage can place significant responsibilities on women, while others criticised her stance.

She concluded by describing men as “gold diggers,” insisting that women often contribute financially and domestically while receiving little in return.
