“I had gotten a landlord with no property” – Man shares experience with Gen Z roommate

A man has shared a humorous experience with his Gen Z roommate after the latter allegedly introduced an unexpected twist to their house rules.

The story was shared on X by @dekim_Kalvino, who narrated how his roommate came up with a rule that left him feeling as though he had moved in with a landlord.

‘I Have One Rule Too’

The man said his Gen Z roommate immediately asked about the house rules after moving in.

He explained that he gave him the usual rules, including avoiding loud music after 10pm, cleaning up after himself and not eating food he did not buy.

The roommate reportedly listened carefully before introducing a rule of his own.

“He nodded seriously and said, ‘Cool. I have one rule too.’”

When the man asked what his rule was, the roommate reportedly pointed at the living room.

‘Never Leave Dishes in the Sink Overnight’

The man said he initially thought his roommate’s rule was simply the same as one of the rules he had already given him.

“‘Never leave dishes in the sink overnight.’ I said, ‘That’s literally the same rule.’ He shook his head,” he wrote.

The roommate then reportedly explained that his interpretation of the rule was different.

“No. Mine is that if YOU leave them there, YOU wash them,” he said.

The man admitted that he initially thought his roommate was joking.

However, the following morning reportedly proved otherwise.

‘Please Remember Your Agreement’

@dekim_Kalvinoì  said he woke up to find two cups in the sink.

According to him, the cups belonged to him.

His roommate had allegedly placed a sticky note beside them with a reminder.

“Good morning. Please remember your agreement,” the note read.

The incident reportedly left the man amused by the roommate’s strict interpretation of their agreement.

“That was the day I realized I hadn’t gotten a roommate. I had gotten a landlord with no property,” he wrote.
