“I give her over N400k monthly” —Man divorces wife after a failed prank

A man recently shared how a simple test to gauge his wife’s love led to the end of their five-year marriage.

He revealed that despite earning 500,000 naira every month, he barely saved 100,000 naira because almost all his income went to supporting his wife.

He sponsored her education up to a Master’s degree level, helping her grow from just O-Level results at the time of their marriage.

Over time, he began to wonder: does she truly love me the way I love her? This question stayed in his mind, especially because he had never tested her love before.

The Prank Test

One day, he decided to carry out a small experiment. He typed fake medical results and created a fake hospital stamp so everything would look real.

When he showed the results to his wife at home, she immediately reacted with panic and anger.

She shouted: “You have destroyed your life! I used to warn you that the pain relief drugs you take are too much.”

He explained that he sometimes took pain relief because of stress from work and long hours in traffic.

She continued: “Now see the result. You will face the consequences alone. I don’t have strength for this kind of problem.”

Shockingly, she then advised him to contact his brother in the UK so he could travel there for better treatment. While he pretended to think about her words, she began calling his relatives.

“Kola’s kidneys are damaged. It’s not my fault so nobody should blame the food I cook. I warned him many times about taking too many pain relief drugs like paracetamol and Panadol,” she told them.

Many relatives started calling him, but he remained calm and told them to relax, saying he would explain later.

The Kidney Request

Kneeling before his wife, he then asked: “You were right that you warned me before. But right now I need a kidney donor. Please donate one of your kidneys for me.”

Her response shocked him further. She said: “Me ke??? What about your mother? Your father? Your siblings?”

He reminded her that they had been married for five years without a child and that doctors had said the problem was from her side. Despite that, he had stood by her, supported her education, and paid for many medical treatments. He begged again:

“Please help me donate a kidney.”

She refused, saying: “Looking for a child and kidney problem are not the same thing. God that gave us two kidneys knows why. I cannot do it. Call your family.”

She then called his family members again. But something happened that made him emotional: his mother offered to donate one of her kidneys, and his father also offered to donate one so he could have two complete kidneys.

The Truth Revealed

At that moment, he revealed the truth: the illness was a prank, and he was not actually sick. When his wife heard this, she laughed and said she had already known and was only pretending.

However, he did not believe her. He said that despite supporting her for five years, paying for medical treatments, and never insulting or punishing her over their childlessness, she had refused to help him in a serious situation. He concluded that she did not truly love him.

He asked her to leave his house and filed for divorce. Though many people tried to intervene and calm him, he remained firm, saying that remembering her reaction strengthened his resolve.

Currently, she has moved out, and the divorce process is set to begin next month. He ended with a reflection: “Never love your mother more than your wife.”
