“I found out that her…” – Man shares experience with neighbour who kept borrowing everything

A Nigerian man has stirred reactions after sharing his experience with a neighbour who kept asking for things shortly after moving into his compound.

In a tweet shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @lizzyjollof, he revealed that the neighbour knocked on his door the very day she moved in.

After introducing herself, she immediately asked if he had spaghetti or macaroni, explaining that her daughter couldn’t sleep without eating.

In his words, he said:

“I actually had spaghetti, but I told her I didn’t, because I have come to understand that it’s not every need you answer, especially when it’s a stranger.”

He explained that what started as a small request quickly turned into constant borrowing, from Maggi to table water, charger, blender, and even power bank.

Things escalated when she borrowed ₦20k and never paid back, then returned days later asking for ₦30k more.

“That was where I drew the line. After that, everything in my house suddenly became ‘finished’. I would always tell her I was using my charger, my power bank, everything,” he added.

He further disclosed that he later found out she had a baby daddy who sponsors her, suggesting she didn’t actually lack the items she kept borrowing, which made him question her true motives.

Many online users reacted, with some sharing similar experiences and warning about setting boundaries early with neighbours.

The story has sparked conversations about personal boundaries, with many agreeing that not every request deserves a yes, especially from strangers.
