“I felt somehow” — Lady recounts what happened after giving regular bike rider ₦1,500 instead of ₦1,000

A lady has triggered conversations on social media after sharing how she felt when her regular commercial motorcycle rider allegedly accepted ₦1,500 from her without acknowledging the extra money.
According to the woman, the rider usually picks her up from her home and takes her to the gym, charging between ₦600 and ₦700 per trip. She said she normally pays him ₦1,000 because she appreciates the effort of coming to her house to pick her up.
However, she explained that she decided to give him ₦1,500 on a recent trip, expecting that he would either thank her or ask if she had mistakenly handed him more than usual.
Lady shares unexpected experience
Narrating the incident, the lady wrote, “Yesterday, instead of the usual 1k, I gave him 1,500. I had my headset on, but I wasn’t listening to any music. I was expecting him to at least acknowledge it or ask if I’d made a mistake, but he said nothing.”
She further added, “He collected the money, looked at me briefly, and slipped it into his pocket. I felt somehow.”
Her account quickly gained attention online, with many users weighing in on whether she was justified in expecting a response.
Social media users divided
The post has since generated mixed reactions, with some users arguing that the rider should have expressed appreciation or confirmed the amount before keeping it.
Others, however, maintained that once the money was voluntarily handed over, the rider was under no obligation to question it, while some suggested he may have assumed it was an intentional tip. The discussion continues to spark debate about gratitude, tipping and expectations in everyday interactions.
