I don’t believe marrying poor man can make you happy – Nancy Isime
Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has shared her views on the role of financial stability in relationships and marriage, emphasizing that love alone may not be enough to sustain a happy family life.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Tea With Tay podcast, Isime stated that she does not subscribe to the belief that marrying a financially struggling partner automatically guarantees a fulfilling or enjoyable life for a woman.
According to the actress, financial challenges can place significant pressure on couples, often affecting their ability to fully enjoy marriage, raise children comfortably, and pursue their shared goals.
She explained that while love and compatibility are important foundations for any relationship, economic realities cannot be ignored, especially when couples begin to build a family together.
Isime therefore encouraged intending couples to attain a reasonable level of financial stability before getting married and having children, arguing that adequate preparation can help reduce avoidable stress and improve overall family well-being.
Her words…
“Marriage is not a poverty alleviation scheme but I don’t believe marrying a poor man can make you happy.
When rent is due, school fees can’t be paid and there is no food in the house, it is difficult to have a fantastic life.
I am not saying there is no love without money. But love and fantastic life are not the same…”
