‘I could have scored more’ – Akor Adams takes responsibility after Sevilla draw

Akor Adams has admitted he should have scored more goals despite finding the net in Sevilla’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker gave Sevilla the lead in the 13th minute at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, but the visitors equalised after the break as the points were shared.
Adams’ goal was his first in six matches and took his tally for the season to seven goals and three assists in 22 league appearances.
Adams reflects on missed chances
Despite opening the scoring, the forward admitted he was disappointed that Sevilla could not secure all three points.
“I think every point is important at this stage of the season. We work hard to get them. We got a point, but there are many things to work on and improve to reach our goal of getting three points,” Adams said after the match.

“Yes, we’re happy to have gotten a point, but not entirely, because I also take responsibility. There were many situations that could have put us ahead. We’ll just work on that and we’ll be better next time.”
Rayo Vallecano respond after break
Rayo Vallecano restored parity early in the second half through Alfonso Espino, whose goal in the 50th minute cancelled out Adams’ opener.
Both teams created chances in the closing stages but neither side was able to find a decisive goal.
Focus remains on team success
Adams also stressed that his primary focus is helping Sevilla win matches rather than individual statistics.
“For me, the most important thing is to win with Sevilla. I work hard every day to win matches,” he said.
“Yes, scoring goals is my job, but at this stage of the season it doesn’t matter if Kike scores or if Lucien scores. In the end, we’re a team.”
The striker also admitted he expects more from himself despite his current goal tally.
“We need to get points. But seven goals… I think I should have scored more. I’m grateful to God, but I’m not satisfied right now.”
