“I almost got kidnapped” – Maraji opens up on why she relocated to Ghana after two scary incidents

Popular skit maker Gloria Olorunto Mensah, better known as Maraji, has revealed why she decided to relocate to Ghana after experiencing two life-threatening incidents in Nigeria.
According to her, many people had advised her against leaving Nigeria, saying it could affect her career since most of her work and brand collaborations were based locally.
However, she said her decision was already made following what she went through.
“So I decided to move to Ghana, and everybody was like your work is in Nigeria, brands are no longer going to you work. I don’t give a damn,” she said.
She went on to describe one of the most terrifying moments of her life, saying she narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt after entering a cab linked to a popular brand.
She said she had to act quickly by jumping out of the moving vehicle to save herself.
The skit maker also recounted another traumatic experience when she was allegedly robbed at gunpoint while on her way to a Coca-Cola event, noting that the incident further changed her perception of safety in Nigeria.
“It took me almost getting kidnapped when I entered one of these cabs… I literally had to jump out of the car. That day fear nearly finish my life. Those were the two events that made me realize that I am not going to raise children in Nigeria,” she added.
Many reactions have followed her revelation, with social media users sharing mixed opinions—some supporting her decision to prioritize safety, while others debated her comments about living conditions in Nigeria.
Maraji, however, maintained that no brand deal or career opportunity is worth her life, stressing that her safety will always come first.
