A lady has sparked reactions online after expressing frustration over her boyfriend calling her by her real name instead of a pet name.
In a now-viral video, the visibly upset young woman questioned what it truly means when a romantic partner chooses to address his lover by her given name.
Lady Questions Boyfriend’s Choice of Name
According to her, when two people are deeply in love, there should be affectionate names involved.
She suggested that being called by her actual name felt strange and even suspicious.
Alleged Sign of Emotional Distance
To her, it raised questions about whether something had changed emotionally in the relationship.
She wondered why a man who claims to love his partner would suddenly switch from endearing names to something more formal.
In her words: “It is only fair that I ask so I know where I stand on this earth. Let me just let me just ask, you have a boyfriend right? You’re a girlfriend right? You’re going to be the man’s wife, your boyfriend’s wife very soon, like soon. This man is the love of your life. And this man called you by your name. This man called you by your name. What does that mean? No, baby wait. Why did you call me by my name? Why? I know who I am, I know where I am. Okay, I’m just going to live my life dead as you think. You can’t call me by my name. Yeah, he called me by my name. How would somebody that you love call you by your name? Baby no, I will take the matter outside. I will tell it out what’s going on inside this place. The person now, please tell me what it means if your man call you by your name. And you as a man, you got to be calling your girlfriend by her name. What does that mean? She cannot, she can not.
