Lata Tondon previously held the record, having completed a cooking marathon that lasted 87 hours and 45 minutes in 2019. On May 11, 2023, she began her “Cook-a-Thon” record attempt. She beat the record on May 15, 2023.
Hilda broke the record for the longest cooking marathon by any individual on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 7:45 a.m., surpassing the previous record holder by 87 hours and 50 minutes, set in 2019. On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, a Guinness World Records spokesman issued an official comment on their website, stating, “We are aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the evidence for our Records Management Team to review before we can confirm the record as official.”
Hilda originally planned to cook for 96 hours to achieve a new record for the longest cooking marathon, but she then increased her goal to 100 hours.
High-profile Nigerians who have visited Hilda include Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Harvester International’s Lead Pastor Bolaji Idowu, Nigerian award-winning musician Tiwa Savage, Tim Godfrey, and Ice Prince.
