“Her loss tho” — Man recounts breakup after refusing to share bed with partner

A man has shared how a relationship ended after his girlfriend broke up with him over what he described as a “petty reason”, following an incident involving her menstrual period during a visit to his home.

The account, which has circulated on social media, highlights differing perspectives on relationship expectations, emotional support, and personal beliefs.

What happened and when

According to the man, the incident occurred during a week-long visit by his then-girlfriend.

He explained that the disagreement began after she stained the bed with her period on the first night. Although she cleaned it, he said the situation affected his comfort level due to his personal and cultural beliefs.

“I saw it first and got pissed as a Yoruba man, I saw it as a bad omen. I told her to clean it, and she did. She wanted to spend a week with me, but from the second day, I didn’t sleep on the same bed with her. I used the other room,” he said.

Why the relationship ended

He added that his decision not to share the same bed again led to tension between them, as she interpreted his behaviour as a lack of care and emotional support.

This disagreement reportedly caused her to end the relationship upon returning home.

“She asked why, and I told her that until she was done with her period, I wouldn’t be able to sleep in the same bed with her… When she got home, she said she couldn’t continue the relationship because I didn’t care about her. She felt I would treat her worse if she were pregnant,” he explained.
