“He wanted me, but found Jesus instead” – Young lady shares how her ‘admirer’ met Christ instead

A young Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing how she converted a young man who tried to woo her.

The story was shared by Franca Iwuchukwu on her Facebook page, where she detailed how the street encounter became an opportunity to guide the young man toward Christ.

Franca explained that she usually avoids responding to unknown men on the street, seeing such approaches as disrespectful.

However, a nudge in her spirit encouraged her to engage with a young man who greeted her in the typical street fashion.

“One thing I really don’t like is responding to unknown guys on the road while I’m walking… I see it as disrespectful. And honestly, God, please don’t let me unknowingly chase my future husband away because of ‘forming hard girl’ on the road,” she said.

From Street Approach to Spiritual Conversation

After greeting him properly, Franca steered the conversation toward spiritual matters.

She reportedly asked if he knew about Jesus and invited him to consider a closer relationship with God.

“He started by saying he liked me and wanted us to be friends. I told him, ‘Do you know Jesus loves you more? Do you know you can be a friend of Jesus and enjoy every part of that relationship? He smiled and said he knows about Jesus, but he likes me, that’s why he was talking to me. Immediately I started talking about Jesus, he tried to change the topic by saying he loves me and already knows about Jesus. I asked him if he was a Christian. He said he attends a church. I asked again, Are you born again? He said he has given his life to Christ.” Franca stated.

Leading a Soul to Christ

Franca revealed that the young man’s demeanor soon shifted as he listened to her guidance.

“At that point, he became very calm, with a broken heart and spirit. I asked if he was ready to genuinely give his life to Christ. He said yes. I asked him to say some words, he repeated the prayer after me. And I prayed with him. My dear… that was it. A new soul was won. Heaven rejoices.”

Continued Guidance and Church Attendance

Franca also ensured that the young man could grow in his newfound faith. She gave him a Bible, invited him to her church, and introduced him to evening services, vigils, and Sunday programs.

“He then told me he had never held a Bible before. I was shocked and asked, really? He said yes, that it was his first time. I smiled and told him I would get him a new one. After the service, I took him to the church protocol unit… On our way back, he said he really enjoyed the pastor’s preaching. I was so happy. God be praised!”

Franca added that his enthusiasm for church attendance often surpassed her own due to her academic commitments, showing how inspired he had become.

“He even reminded me about the Tuesday and Thursday evening services and said he would attend. Imagine the person I invited to church becoming more serious than me! 😭 But I told him I might not always be available because of lectures. I also told him about vigils, programs, and Sunday services and promised to keep him informed.

My dear, this God is truly great,” she stated.
