‘He tried to get Slot sacked’ – Carragher blasts Salah for ‘disgraceful’ outburst

Jamie Carragher, whom Mohamed Salah predicted would “go for me again,” delivered a scathing assessment of the timing of the forward’s outburst, which came just hours after Liverpool conceded a late equaliser to draw 3-3 at Leeds on Saturday.
Carragher noted that Liverpool, the defending Premier League champions, have won only four of their past 15 matches in all competitions since September, leaving manager Arne Slot under intensifying pressure.
‘He waited for a bad result’
According to Carragher, Salah’s decision to speak publicly was opportunistic.
“He has waited, I think, for a bad result with Liverpool,” he said. “Everyone connected with the club feels like they are in the gutter and he has chosen this time to go for the manager, and maybe try and get him sacked.”

Carragher said the phrase “thrown under the bus” was particularly telling, accusing Salah of attempting to undermine the club twice in the past year, first during a contract dispute with the owners, and now with the manager.
“With the manager, he should be doing all he can to help the club get out of the worst run of results they have had since the 1950s,” he added.
Houghton says Salah’s outburst looks planned
Former England captain Steph Houghton backed Carragher’s view, arguing that Salah’s comments looked calculated.
“It probably couldn’t have come at a worse time for Liverpool,” she said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He probably expected to come on against Leeds, he didn’t, and that hurts his ego. But it’s poor from him. It puts other people in jeopardy.”
Calls for Salah to step up for the team
Carragher also urged Salah to shift focus from personal milestones to helping new signings like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak settle and thrive.
“Some of the criticism has been excessive this season, but I will go after Mo Salah when he tries to throw my club under the bus,” he said.
“The club have made the right decision in him not going abroad with them. Whether he plays for the club again, I don’t know.”
Despite his criticism, Carragher acknowledged Salah’s legacy. “I hope he does [play again] because he is one of the greatest players we have ever had,” he concluded.
