“He ran away with my girlfriend” – Woman cries out after lover of 6 years disappears with ₦950k rent money
A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to share her painful experience after her boyfriend of six years allegedly ran away with another woman she had taken into her home.
“In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @mazi_chinonso, she revealed that she had brought her 40-year-old boyfriend from the village to stay with her.
Trouble started when her friend from Lagos came around, claiming she was in Asaba for a job interview. Unknown to her, the two had already started an affair.
She revealed that one day, she returned home unexpectedly and caught them together on the bed.
While she immediately sent the lady packing, her boyfriend packed his belongings and followed the woman out of the house.
Recounting the incident, she said,
“I was expecting him to call me but he didn’t. I called him and he didn’t pick. I later found out that they are now staying together in a new place they rented.”
Despite the betrayal, the woman admitted she still loves him, stressing that they had been together for six years.
However, her major concern now is the ₦950,000 rent money she had kept with him for safekeeping.
She explained that she usually gives him the rent money to save and pay when due, adding that ‘as the man, it will look somehow if I’m paying for everything.’
With her rent set to expire next month, she is now stranded.
“Even if he doesn’t love me anymore, he should please give me my ₦950k I kept with him,” she pleaded.
The heartbreaking story has sparked conversations online about trust as many weighed in advising women to always protect themselves financially, no matter how much they love a man.
