“He gave me his wedding invite” — Man recounts plot that backfired again him

A man has narrated how a failed attempt to emotionally punish his former partner after a breakup spiralled into an unexpected outcome, leaving him shocked and betrayed by a close friend.

The breakup and a calculated plan

The man, who spoke anonymously, said the relationship ended in late August 2024 after his girlfriend of over five years discovered he had been unfaithful.

Despite repeated pleas, he said she refused reconciliation and insisted on moving on with her life.

According to him, the breakup marked the end of a relationship that had survived years of financial struggles, personal loss and career uncertainty.

Determined not to let her walk away unscathed, he devised a plan involving a trusted friend, hoping to control the aftermath of the separation. What followed, however, was far from what he anticipated.

“I loved her deeply and couldn’t imagine life without her. We had built everything together for more than five years, so when she left, it broke me completely,” he said.

“She ended it just because of one mistake, and I felt all we had been through counted for nothing.”

He explained that he secretly introduced his friend to her, believing the man would gain her trust, emotionally manipulate her, and eventually abandon her in a painful way as revenge for leaving him.

A shocking twist eight months later

“After about eight months, I told him it was time to end things as planned. Instead, he apologised and sent me their wedding invitation. I was numb. I couldn’t believe my own friend had done this to me.”

The man said the cheating incident that triggered the breakup occurred earlier in March 2024, an event he now admits changed the course of all their lives.
