“He abandoned me because I gave birth to only girls – Single mum celebrates daughters’ success
A single mother has stirred emotions online after sharing how her husband allegedly abandoned her and their four daughters because he desperately wanted a son.
The touching story, shared on Facebook by a user identified as Blue X, detailed years of struggle, sacrifice, and eventual triumph as the woman raised her children alone.
Husband Allegedly Walks Away
According to her narration, her husband reportedly left one morning after deciding he could no longer accept having only daughters.
She wrote: “They said a house of only girls is an empty house. My husband looked at our 4 beautiful daughters and saw ‘liabilities.’ One Tuesday morning, he packed his bags, took our small savings, and fled to another town to be with a woman who promised him a son.”
She added that he left her with three young children and a six-month-old baby without any financial support.
“He left me with 3 mouths to feed and a 6 month old baby on my back. No goodbye. No child support. Just the shame of being ‘the woman who couldn’t keep her man.’”
Struggles of Single Motherhood
The woman explained that despite the pain, she was forced to become strong for her children.
“I cried until my chest burned, but when my oldest asked, ‘Mummy, will we eat today?’ the lioness in me woke up.”
She said she took on various jobs to survive and keep her daughters in school.
“I carried crates of mineral on my head until my neck almost snapped. I sold roasted corn and washed people’s clothes… I did anything legal to keep those girls in school.”
Years of Sacrifice
According to her, life remained difficult for years as she struggled financially while her husband allegedly started a new life elsewhere.
“I wore one faded Ankara for 5 years just to pay school fees while my husband was busy playing ‘father’ to another woman’s child in a distant city. People mocked me, but I was too busy building Queens to hear them.”
Triumph After Two Decades
She revealed that after about 20 years, her sacrifices began to pay off as her daughters achieved academic and career success.
“Today, I am standing at the International Airport. I just watched my 3rd daughter board her flight to the UK on a full scholarship to join her two elder sisters who are already successful over there.”
She also shared that the youngest child her husband left as a baby is now about to graduate from law school.
“And that 6 month old baby he abandoned? She is graduating from Law School as a Barrister next year!”

Reflecting on her journey, she encouraged women raising daughters not to feel inferior.
