Haaland nets hat-trick as City thrash Liverpool 4-0 to advance to FA Cup semis

Manchester City delivered a statement performance to secure a place in the FA Cup semi-finals, thrashing Liverpool with a clinical performance led by Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker produced a hat-trick to underline City’s superiority, as Pep Guardiola’s side extended their record run to an eighth consecutive semi-final appearance in the competition.
Haaland ends drought in style
City broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Haaland converted from the penalty spot after Virgil van Dijk fouled Nico O’Reilly in the box.
The forward doubled the advantage just before halftime, heading home from a cross by Antoine Semenyo to give City firm control of the tie.

Despite a quiet start, the goals shifted the game completely, exposing Liverpool’s inefficiency in front of goal.
Liverpool waste key opportunities
Mohamed Salah had an early chance to put Liverpool ahead but dragged his effort wide when through on goal. He later missed from the penalty spot, with his effort saved by James Trafford.
Additional chances fell to Hugo Ekitike, but Liverpool failed to capitalise — a recurring issue that proved decisive.
City seal emphatic victory
Semenyo added a third early in the second half with a composed finish before Haaland completed his hat-trick to cap a comfortable win.
The result intensifies scrutiny on Liverpool boss Arne Slot, as his side’s inconsistency continues to undermine their campaign.
For City, the focus now shifts to sustaining momentum as they pursue multiple domestic honours, with their FA Cup run very well on track.
