Guardiola responds to Haaland’s transfer rumours to Real Madrid

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has responded to reports linking Erling Haaland with a move to Real Madrid.

Haaland’s return from injury has sparked rumours in Spain about his purported dissatisfaction in Manchester and his desire to join the La Liga giants.

During a press conference ahead of City’s game with Brentford, Guardiola was quizzed about the speculation surrounding Haaland’s future and whether there was any truth to the reports

In response, the manager said, “You have to ask the media from Madrid, maybe they have more information than we have. We don’t have that feeling.”

Guardiola stated that Haaland’s two-month absence due to injury should not be misconstrued as a sign of discontent with the club.

“He could not play for two months because he was injured, but maybe the media from Spain, and especially Madrid, have more information than us.

“We cannot say he didn’t adapt quickly and he was not fine since he arrived,” he remarked.

The City boss reiterated that they cannot control media speculation and emphasized, “It’s the level he showed since he arrived on day one.

“We cannot control what people say. When he (Haaland) is unhappy, he will take his decision.”
