Guardiola describes De Bruyne as “pure talent” after performance against Newcastle

Pep Guardiola has described ace midfielder Kevin de Bruyne as “pure talent” after inspiring Manchester City’s 3-2 win against Newcastle.

De Bruyne was instrumental to City’s away win at St James’ Park on Saturday’s Premier League fixture, despite being his first game in the English topflight in four months due to a hamstring injury.

His impact was immediate, as moments after coming on, the 32-year-old dribbled through the Newcastle defense and calmly slotted a low shot past Martin Dubravka to equalize for City, who were 2-1 down.

In the dying minutes of the game, he provided an assist for Oscar Bobb, who sealed the dramatic late winner for City.

While the Belgian midfielder’s performance took many by surprise, his boss Guardiola was no stranger to his abilities

In a post-match reaction, Guardiola, described his skipper as exceptional, and talent-filled, even without instructing him on what to do.

“Kevin de Bruyne is pure talent. It’s not about tactics, it’s about talent,” adding that his men are “hungry and wants to win the PL title again.”
