“Give us time, trust the process” — Power minister Adelabu urges Nigerians amid rising heat

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has urged Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, assuring citizens that reforms in the power sector will soon begin to yield results.

Speaking during a public engagement, the minister called on Nigerians both at home and abroad to have confidence in the government’s plans for the electricity sector.

He said the reforms being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are designed to strengthen the power industry and stimulate growth across other sectors of the economy.

Call for patience from citizens

Adelabu acknowledged that many Nigerians are currently facing challenges, particularly with the intense heat and electricity supply concerns.

However, he maintained that the government’s plans require time to fully take effect.

To those there, to those at home, all Nigerians, we should have trust in this administration. It only takes little time, little patience for us to start seeing the laudable plan that Mr President has for the sector.”

Government support for reforms

According to Adelabu, the president has given significant backing to reforms aimed at improving electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.

He explained that the administration intends to use the power sector as a catalyst for development in other areas of the economy.

He says he wants to use this sector to drive optimal performance in other sectors,” Adelabu stated.

Assurance to the public

The minister also reassured Nigerians that government policies are not intended to cause hardship but to create long-term improvements.

Whatever we’re doing, we’re not doing it to hurt anybody,” he added, urging citizens to remain supportive while reforms continue.
