Getafe boss doubts €20m Christantus Uche to Wolves deal despite club agreement
Getafe manager José Bordalás has cast doubt on Christantus Uche’s proposed €20m move to Wolves, despite the club already reaching an agreement for the Nigerian forward’s transfer.
Club owner Ángel Torres confirmed ahead of Getafe’s 2-1 win over Sevilla that the deal was set, citing salary cap restrictions as the driving force behind the sale.

Torres admitted he was “forced to sell,” revealing Uche would undergo medicals before signing, adding: “We’re not in favour of selling the best players, but La Liga rules force us to comply.”
However, Bordalás struck a contrasting tone after the victory, stressing Uche’s importance to his side. “I’m against him leaving; he’s a very important player.
“If Uche leaves, we’ll have a very serious problem,” he warned. “We can’t start from scratch every season. For us, he’s fundamental to our attack, and losing him would be a major issue.”
Uche, 22, joined Getafe last summer for just €550,000, originally as a defensive midfielder before transitioning into a forward role.
His form has boosted his value, with Wolves’ €20m bid sitting below his €25m release clause.
AS reports suggest the player is happy in Madrid, while his agent, aligned with Wolves’ part-owner Jorge Mendes, is pushing for the transfer to materialise, with Mendes set to earn a significant commission.
