Fulham manager regrets one thing about Chukwueze despite stunning brace vs City

Samuel Chukwueze delivered another electric performance for Fulham in their dramatic 5-4 defeat to Manchester City at Craven Cottage, scoring twice off the bench to open his Premier League account.

The Nigerian winger has now produced four goal contributions in his last three matches, continuing a return of form that has delighted manager Marco Silva.

Silva impressed but concedes one major setback

Silva acknowledged Chukwueze’s growing influence, praising the AC Milan loanee’s energy and decision-making.

He revealed that the club had managed the forward’s minutes due to his heavy workload in previous games, noting the “massive impact” he made after coming on.

However, the Fulham boss admitted there is a downside to Chukwueze’s form: the timing. The winger will soon depart for the Africa Cup of Nations, disrupting the form he is building in London.

“Chukwu is just showing his quality… he’s getting better and better,” Silva said. “Unfortunately, we’re going to lose him in 15 days’ time, like it was three times in the last three months. But it is what it is. Until then, we have to get the best from him.”

Fulham to lose key trio for AFCON

Chukwueze’s expected departure comes at a difficult time for Fulham, who will also be without Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey during the AFCON window.

All three players have been named in Eric Chelle’s provisional squad for the tournament, which kicks off on December 21 in Morocco.
