FRSC to prosecute TikToker, Peller over Benz crash.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has announced plans to prosecute a popular TikTok content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, following a road crash linked to a video showing him live-streaming while driving.

FRSC condemns influencer’s risky road behaviour

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, expressed alarm over what he described as a disturbing trend among celebrities and social media influencers who engage in risky behaviour on public roads for online content.

He stressed that “Live streaming, content creation, or engaging in any activity that distracts a driver while on the road is a direct violation of traffic regulations and endangers all road users.”

According to Mohammed, the incident highlights that public status does not place anyone above the law.

Agency orders prosecution over distracted driving incident

He directed the Lagos State command of the FRSC to initiate legal action against the influencer for offences related to reckless and distracted driving.

The corps marshal also warned that such conduct undermines national road safety campaigns and could lead to preventable loss of life.

He called on entertainment bodies and influencer groups to promote responsible conduct among their members, noting that public figures have strong influence over young Nigerians.

Mohammed reaffirmed that roads are shared public spaces governed by safety laws, not platforms for content creation, and pledged firm enforcement against anyone endangering lives.
