From Joy to burden: Mother of 5 gives birth to quadruplets in Abeokuta, seeks help

A woman has made an emotional appeal to the Nigerian government and the public after giving birth to quadruplets at Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, despite already having five young children.
shock after delivery
According to the distraught mother, doctors initially told her she was expecting one baby. That figure later changed to two, and eventually four.
“I didn’t know o, we didn’t know,” she said tearfully. “First they said it was one baby, when we went back they said it is two, we went again they said it is four babies.”
The woman, who disclosed that she is 40 years old, said the development has left her overwhelmed and fearful about the future.
Family pressure and uncertainty
She revealed that the birth of the quadruplets has placed immense strain on her family. Already caring for five small children, she said her husband nearly fled after the delivery.
“My husband wanted to run away when I gave birth, but people have been advising him to stay,” she explained.
The mother added that her financial situation is dire and that she feels incapable of coping alone. “I can’t do this alone. My life is not going well o,” she lamented.
Plea for help
In her emotional appeal, she called on the Nigerian government and well-meaning citizens for support.
“Nigeria please help me. Government please come to my aid. I’m just 40 years old with nine children.”
Her story has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy and calling for urgent assistance from government agencies, charities, and humanitarian organisations to help the family manage the sudden responsibility of raising nine children.
