FIFA close probe into Rudiger racism allegation

FIFA have ended their investigation into claims of racist abuse directed at Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger during June’s Club World Cup semi-final against Pachuca.

Rudiger reported to officials during Madrid’s 3-1 win that Pachuca forward Gonzalo Cabral had abused him, forcing the referee to stop play momentarily, in line with protocol.

The matter was later escalated to FIFA’s disciplinary committee.

As part of their review, FIFA analysed referee communications, conducted lip-reading assessments, and examined all available evidence.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, no conclusive proof was found to substantiate Rudiger’s claims.

The case has now been closed with no action taken against Cabral or Pachuca.

Meanwhile, Rudiger will return to domestic action this weekend after serving a six-game suspension carried over from last season.

The German missed Real Madrid’s opening win against Osasuna but is available for Sunday’s trip to Real Oviedo.
