Study abroad opportunities for Nigerian MSc and PhD students
“FG has announced the commencement of applications for 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarships overseas,” the post stated.
The scheme targets MSc and PhD candidates in oil and gas-related disciplines. Recipients will benefit from tuition coverage, return flights, accommodation, living allowances, health insurance, and bench fees where applicable.
The programme aims to provide world-class training, access to research facilities, and opportunities to develop expertise while building local capacity in Nigeria’s energy sector.
Scholarship covers tuition, flights, accommodation, and living expenses
PhD applicants to UK institutions will participate in a split-site arrangement, conducting research between the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, and partner universities such as Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth.
The PTDF emphasised that the scholarships are highly competitive, with applicants assessed on academic performance, research proposals, professional memberships, and relevance to the oil and gas industry.
MSc candidates must have a minimum of a Second Class Lower (2.2) degree and completed NYSC, while PhD applicants must submit a detailed research proposal.
Interested candidates are advised to apply online via scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng. The closing date for applications is 27th February 2026.
