Police debunk kidnapping rumour at St. Peter’s Academy Secondary School in Nasarawa

The police have debunked reports that two pupils were abducted from St. Peter’s Academy in Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The Command stated that the alarming news circulating on social media and other platforms is false and does not reflect the true state of affairs.

False alarm sparks panic among students and residents

According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, “On 21/11/2025 at about 1000hrs, an unverified report alleged that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy were abducted while engaging in sporting activities. Our officers, alongside military personnel, promptly responded to the scene and discovered that the pupils had merely fled in fear after seeing hunters carrying Dane guns, mistaking them for kidnappers.”

The area was thoroughly combed by the security operatives, and normalcy was immediately restored.

Investigations included interviewing the proprietor of the school, who confirmed that the alarm raised was false.

The Command assured residents that the general area continues to be closely monitored to prevent any security breach.

Police and military quickly respond to the scene

CP Mohammed emphasized the importance of responsible reporting, saying, “We urge members of the public to disregard this circulating report as mere rumour. Journalists and media outlets should always verify information before publication to avoid misleading the public.”

Authorities have reassured parents and the community that the safety of students remains a top priority and that all necessary measures are in place to ensure security within the area.

Meanwhile, the police and military continue patrols in the vicinity as a precautionary measure.

Residents have expressed relief following the clarification, noting that misinformation can easily cause panic and disrupt the community.

Security agencies have once again called on everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
