Fave Biography: Age, Career, Songs, Albums, Boyfriend, Net Worth
Fave, born Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere on March 13, 2000, is a versatile Nigerian singer-songwriter and recording artist who combines Afrobeats, R&B, pop, soul, and dancehall.
She first became known during the COVID-19 shutdown for her brief freestyle videos broadcast on social media. Fave’s career took off with her debut single “M.O.M.M.S” in 2019, but her viral freestyle over Jinmi Abduls’ beat launched her into the forefront.
Her big track, “Baby Riddim,” released in 2021 by emPawa Africa, dominated Nigerian music charts and established a global record in Shazam’s Afrobeats genre. Fave’s debut EP, Riddim 5, was released in January 2022, and it featured her smash single “Baby Riddim.”
Since then, she has worked with renowned Nigerian musicians such as Olamide and Simi, cementing her place in the contemporary Nigerian music scene.
Early Life

Fave was born Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere on March 13, 2000, in Lagos, Nigeria, and is from Anambra State. She is of Igbo heritage, one of Nigeria’s most important ethnic groupings, and was raised in a Christian home, with her father working as a pastor.
Her religious upbringing introduced her to music early on through church activities. While nothing is known about her siblings, Fave grew up in southeastern Nigeria, where she was exposed to a broad mix of modern and Afrobeat music.
She credits Asa, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Tiwa Savage, and Rihanna as major influences on her musical approach.
Fave, who has a strong voice, began singing in the church choir at a young age, where she developed her skill and enthusiasm for music. She refined her talents and eventually started writing her tunes.
Fave attended basic and secondary schools in Lagos before completing her secondary education at Caleb British International School. She eventually studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), although her blossoming music career most likely influenced her scholastic journey.
Career
Fave mostly considers herself a “pop” musician; however, her career has featured dancehall, Afro pop, Afro beats, dance, and R&B. Her creative storytelling, which is occasionally set to groovy beat drops or fast-paced percussion progressions, supports her poetic writing style, which encourages vulnerability.
She gained fame in 2019 while studying law in southwest Nigeria by posting several freestyles on her Twitter account. She started to acquire popularity after her verse over a free beat made by Jinmi Abdul went viral, especially on Twitter, where she got a lot of encouraging feedback from users. N.B.U., which translates to “Nobody but U,” was Fave’s official debut single.
It was released on April 17, 2020, and it peaked at number 64 on the Apple Music Top 100 chart. In November 2021, months later, she signed a one-year license with Mr. Eazi’s emPawa Africa. After the release of her most popular single, “Baby Riddim,” which was distributed by emPawa Africa, Fave became well-known.
The song “Baby Riddim” became the second lead female artist to debut at the top of the Nigerian turntable chart. Additionally, in 2021, it held the Global Shazam Afrobeats record for six consecutive weeks.
‘Riddim 5,’ Fave’s debut EP, was released on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Obsessed, S.M.K., Kilotufe, Mr. Man, and Baby Riddim—her biggest hit—are the EP’s five solo tracks. In 2022, the EP became the first project to debut at the top of Nigeria’s Apple Music Top Albums chart. Fave appeared on the songs “Want” and “Pon Pon” off the Nigerian rapper Olamide’s 2021 album, UY Scuti.
Simi, a Nigerian artist, included Fave on her 2022 single “Loyal.” She was later featured in the track ‘Kante’ from Davido’s album Timeless, which was released in March 2023, and provided a tremendous chorus, with her voice playing a big role in it.
On November 7, 2024, Fave released her sophomore EP, DUTTY LOVE. The seven-track project comprises previously published songs “Belong To You,” “Controlla,” and “No Games,” as well as four new tracks: “Juju,” “Complicated,” “Lose My Mind,” and the title tune, “Dutty Love.”
