Fabrizio Romano reveals Liverpool’s current stance on Alisson contract talks

Liverpool have no active negotiations with Alisson Becker over a new contract, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Brazilian goalkeeper remains under contract at Anfield until 2027 after Liverpool exercised an option to extend his existing deal, but Romano says a further agreement will be required if the club want to keep him beyond that point.

Alisson, who recently turned 34, continues to play a key role for Liverpool and has started every Premier League and Champions League game for the club this season.
Liverpool talks with Alisson currently stalled
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Romano explained that Liverpool previously decided to retain Alisson rather than risk losing another senior figure during the summer rebuild.

“Alisson is a special situation because for Alisson, Juventus were very interested around April/May,” Romano said.
“Then Liverpool decided to continue with him also not to lose another leader after Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson and all the others who left in the summer transfer window. So Liverpool activated the option for an extra season 2027.”
However, Romano stressed that the extension does not guarantee Alisson will remain beyond 2027.
“Now if they want to continue together a new contract is needed. There is no option, no extra option in the contract,” he added.
“At the moment, there are no active conversations between Alisson and Liverpool over a new deal. Let’s see. I think there could be movements in summer 2027.”
Juventus continue to monitor Alisson
Juventus have previously shown interest in Alisson and are reportedly monitoring his contract situation again.
The Serie A giants are understood to be attracted by the possibility of signing an experienced goalkeeper without paying a significant transfer fee, although any move would depend on how negotiations between Liverpool and Alisson develop.
Liverpool will also have to consider their succession plan. Giorgi Mamardashvili is already at Anfield after joining from Valencia and has been viewed as a potential long-term option between the posts.
For now, however, Alisson remains Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper and has continued to prove his importance to the team.
