Fabrizio Romano confirms Lookman on Galatasaray’s January transfer shortlist

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have identified Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman as a potential signing for the January window, according to Italian transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano.

Lookman’s start to the season at Atalanta has been underwhelming, following a chaotic summer in which he pushed for a move to Inter Milan.

Lookman’s form and contract situation drives speculation

Despite a standout campaign last season, the 26-year-old has managed only one goal in ten appearances this term.

His dip in form combined with uncertainty around his long-term contract, has intensified speculation about a move to Turkey, where he would link up with international teammate Victor Osimhen.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, confirmed Galatasaray’s interest but stressed that no deal is in place.

“Atalanta will have to make a choice in January after rejecting bids from Inter and Bayern Munich late in the summer window,” he explained.

“In Turkey they say an agreement is already done, this is not the case. Nothing is agreed between Galatasaray and Lookman’s agent or between the clubs.”

Galatasaray weighing multiple high-profile targets

Romano noted that Lookman remains firmly on the shortlist, but the Turkish champions are evaluating several options as they plan a major signing push in January.

“Galatasaray interest remains… Lookman is a player they are thinking about,” he said.

“They want to make at least one big signing in January. But today, no negotiations have started and no agreement exists.”

Lookman’s contract runs until June 2027, according to Transfermarkt. While Atalanta hold a strong position for now, his value will start to decline as he approaches the final two years of his deal.
