FA Cup: Coventry end 37-year semi-final drought with 3-2 win against Wolves

Coventry City staged a stunning late comeback to shock Wolves and secure their first FA Cup semi-final appearance since 1987.

The Championship side emerged 3-2 winners at the Molineux, with all five goals scored in the second half.

Ellis Simms, who earlier missed a clear chance, redeemed himself by breaking the deadlock in the 53rd minute, with VAR ruling in favour of the goal despite handball claims.

Wolves responded shortly, equalizing through Rayan Ait-Nouri after narrowly avoiding a red card for Nelson Semedo’s reckless challenge.

Wolves then took the lead in the 88th minute courtesy of Huegi Bueno’s debut goal for the club.

However, Simms rose to the occasion once again, heading home in stoppage time to level the score.

His brace made him the first Coventry player since Keith Houchen in 1986/87 to score five goals in a single FA Cup campaign.

With extra time at hand, Haji Wright delivered the final blow, curling a shot into the bottom corner to seal Coventry’s dramatic victory.
