EPL: Substitute Arokodare scores to rescue point as Wolves draw Brentford 2-2

Tolu Arokodare scored a late equaliser to earn Wolverhampton Wanderers a 2-2 draw against Brentford in Monday’s Premier League encounter.

Wolves came from two goals down to claim a valuable point in London, extending their unbeaten run to three matches despite remaining at the bottom of the table.

Brentford dominate early stages

The hosts took control in the first half and went ahead in the 22nd minute through Michael Kayode, who headed home from a delivery by Keane Lewis-Potter.

Brentford doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when Igor Thiago finished from close range to register his 19th league goal of the season.

Wolves responded just before the break. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde drove forward before setting up Adam Armstrong, who finished well in the 44th minute to reduce the deficit.

Arokodare inspires Wolves comeback

With Wolves pushing for an equaliser in the second half, manager Rob Edwards introduced Arokodare in the 74th minute.

The substitution proved decisive as the Nigerian striker headed in from a cross by João Gomes to make it 2-2.

Arokodare nearly completed the turnaround moments later but saw another header strike the crossbar.

Brentford pressed for a late winner but were unable to break through, settling for a draw that leaves them seventh in the standings, just short of the top six.

Wolves remain bottom with 17 points, though their recent form offers encouragement, having lost only once in their last six matches.

Arokodare’s goal takes his tally to three in the league this season, with six goals and two assists recorded across all competitions.
