EPL: Chelsea throw away two-goal lead vs Leeds in 2-2 draw

Chelsea surrendered a comfortable position at Stamford Bridge as Leeds United fought back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw, capitalising on defensive lapses and a costly penalty concession.

The hosts looked in full control after a strong first-half showing, with Cole Palmer central to everything positive in attack.

Palmer created the opener with a precise through ball for João Pedro, who lifted a composed finish past Karl Darlow.

The pair combined again later in the game, Palmer converting from the spot after Pedro was pushed over in the box, continuing a productive partnership that has defined Chelsea’s recent attacking output.

At 2-0, the match appeared settled. Leeds had offered little from open play, while Chelsea dominated possession and created further half-chances through Pedro and Estêvão. However, familiar issues resurfaced as the Blues failed to manage the game.

Leeds punish Chelsea errors

The game shifted when Moisés Caicedo conceded a needless penalty, bringing down Jayden Bogle inside the area. Lukas Nmecha calmly converted to reduce the deficit and inject belief into the visitors.

Leeds grew in confidence, while Chelsea’s back line became increasingly unsettled. Bogle again caused problems down the right, driving into the area and forcing panic in the defence.

The ball eventually fell to substitute Noah Okafor, who tapped into an empty net to level the score, completing an unlikely comeback.

The equaliser morrows a wider issue for Chelsea, who have repeatedly dropped points from winning positions this season, particularly at home.

Late chances go begging

Chelsea pushed for a winner in the closing stages and created enough chances to reclaim all three points.

Pedro struck the crossbar with a header, while substitute Pedro Neto delivered several dangerous balls into the box.

In stoppage time, Palmer missed a clear opportunity from close range after a low cross flashed across the six-yard area, summing up a frustrating night for the home side.

For Leeds, the draw provides a valuable boost in their fight to move away from the relegation zone.
