EPL: Arsenal lead race as Semenyo weighs options, Spurs risk another transfer blow

Tottenham are battling to persuade Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo to join them in January, but the Ghana international is reportedly leaning toward offers from three rival Premier League giants.

Semenyo, 25, has a £65m release clause active until January 10 and has attracted strong interest after producing six goals and three assists in the league this season.

Semenyo hesitant on Tottenham move

Despite Spurs’ push, Semenyo remains reluctant to commit, mirroring his stance last summer when he rejected their approach and signed a new deal with Bournemouth instead.

That contract includes a release clause that reduces by £5m in the summer.

Sources indicate the forward would be significantly more tempted by Manchester City, Liverpool, or league leaders Arsenal, all of whom have been tracking his progress closely.

For Tottenham, Arsenal’s involvement poses a particular concern after Spurs narrowly missed out on Eberechi Eze to their North London rivals during the last window.

Liverpool could accelerate interest

Liverpool may step up their pursuit next month if Mohamed Salah’s situation deteriorates further following his recent outburst.

However, there remains a scenario where Semenyo stays at Bournemouth until the summer before making a decision.

Spurs’ left-wing issues persist

Tottenham’s ongoing challenges on the left side of attack are heightening their urgency.

Manager Thomas Frank has trialled Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons, but none have cemented the role.

“There’s competition for that left-side role,” Frank said last week. “But there has not been one player who has put his foot down and claimed that position.”

Farewell to a club legend

Spurs will also bid a proper farewell to Son Heung-min ahead of their Champions League tie with Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

Son, who departed in the summer after a decade at the club to join LAFC, will address supporters before kick-off.
