Emeka Ike says relationships become a ‘scam’ when driven by personal gain

Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has shared his thoughts on love and marriage, stressing that relationships should not be treated as opportunities for personal gain.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor said that love and marriage are not inherently a “scam.”

According to him, problems arise when people enter relationships primarily to benefit financially or materially from their partners.

Emeka Ike argued that some individuals pursue relationships because of what they hope to receive rather than out of genuine affection, a mindset he believes undermines the true essence of love.

He maintained that love should remain sacred and described it as the foundation of every healthy relationship, urging Nigerians to stop turning romantic relationships into transactional arrangements.

His words in part …

“Love and marriage is not a sc@m, but using relationships as meal tickets is what makes it one. Love and marriage is beautiful. But when you are liking a man for an end or liking a woman for something, that is where it becomes a scam. Plenty girls are going into relationships because of what they want to get or what they want to get or collect from the man. They should go and be doing bambiala instead of using relationships. Love is supposed to be sacred. Love is is the foundation. It is like a pillar of every good relationship. Let’s stop messing it up in Nigeria.”
