Ederson move to Manchester United nears completion amid fee confusion

Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, although reports remain mixed over the final transfer fee as negotiations reach the final stage.

The Brazilian is widely expected to move to Old Trafford, with agreement on personal terms already in place after previously reaching an understanding with Atletico Madrid before that deal collapsed.

United’s willingness to meet the player’s demands has positioned them ahead of rivals in the race for the 27-year-old.

Fee structure still under discussion

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United are aiming to finalise the deal for between €40m and €45m.

However, Italian sources present a slightly higher valuation, suggesting the total package including add-ons could rise to around €48m-€50m.

Other reports, including from Alfredo Pedullà and Tuttomercatoweb, indicate a compromise structure of around €45m plus performance-related bonuses.

Atalanta initially valued the midfielder at €50m, but are understood to have softened their stance due to his contract situation, which runs until June 2027.

Atalanta accept reduced valuation

Ederson was originally signed by Atalanta from Salernitana for €22.9m in 2022, meaning the Italian club stand to make a significant profit regardless of the final structure of the deal.

His consistent performances in Serie A have made him one of the most sought-after holding midfielders in Europe, with United identifying him as a key target to strengthen their midfield balance.

United push to conclude transfer

The expectation across multiple reports is that the deal will be completed once final details are agreed between both clubs.

United have prioritised strengthening the holding midfield role and see Ederson as a long-term solution in that position.

The Brazilian international, who turns 27 in July, is now expected to complete the formal steps of the transfer once the final fee structure is settled.
