Drama in APC as Katsina Assembly member Ahmad Ganga declares himself National Chairman

A fresh leadership crisis appears to be brewing within Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as a new claimant has emerged, declaring himself the party’s authentic national chairman.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, Hon. Ahmad Ganga publicly asserted his authority over the party, setting the stage for a potential legal battle that could deepen internal divisions.

Fresh Legal Battle Looms

Ganga, in his statement, insisted that he is the “true and authentic Chairperson” of the APC, challenging the legitimacy of the current leadership structure.

He revealed plans to approach the Federal High Court of Nigeria to seek judicial intervention.

According to him, the lawsuit aims to dismantle what he described as an “illegitimate structure” currently managing the party’s affairs.

The development signals another twist in the ongoing leadership tussle within the ruling party.

Call to Derecognise Party Leadership

Beyond seeking to unseat the present leadership, Ganga also disclosed that he would ask the court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

He argued that such a move is necessary to restore due process and safeguard the integrity of the APC.

Ganga maintained that the action is rooted in a desire to uphold the rule of law within the party.
