Drama as bride refuses to promise to “obey” husband during wedding vows
Drama unfolded at a wedding ceremony after a bride openly refused to include the word “obey” while reciting her vows.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @dammiedammie35, the bride could be heard repeatedly insisting that she would not promise to “obey” her husband as part of the vows.
While addressing the officiant during the ceremony, she firmly stated that she was not comfortable making such a promise and preferred to continue with the vows without including the word.
In her words, she said:
“I’m not saying that word. I’m not saying that word. I’m not obeying anybody. I don’t obey anybody, especially him,” she said.
“So you can continue without that word. Cherish. I’m not obeying nobody. I’m not saying that word. You think I’m about to start my life off obeying a man? Never. I’m not obeying anybody.”
The bride continued, emphasizing that she was unwilling to begin her married life with a promise of obedience, stating that her husband knows her policy.
Her remarks quickly drew attention online, with many social media users sharing different opinions about the moment.
While some people supported her stance, arguing that marriage should be based on equality rather than obedience, others criticized her response, suggesting that the issue should have been discussed privately.
