Drama as Australian-based husband lures wife back to Nigeria, ends marriage over surrogacy dispute

A Nigerian man reportedly used deception to end his marriage after his wife refused to carry a pregnancy herself, preferring surrogacy to maintain her body.

The husband, who lives in Australia with his wife, allegedly convinced her to travel to Nigeria under the pretense that his parents were celebrating an anniversary and wanted her presence.

He then returned to Australia, leaving her stranded in the country, unable to access her identification or communication tools.

Following the incident, the husband’s family reportedly moved to return the wife’s dowry, formally announcing the end of the marriage.

The couple, married in 2022, had relocated to Australia in 2024. The wife insisted that her choice to use surrogacy was personal, stating that no one could force her to carry a pregnancy she did not want.

The incident has sparked debate over consent, communication, and compromise in marriage.
